Types Of Wires Used In Networking
Following are the wires which are used in networking :- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Cable.
- Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Cable.
- Coaxial Cable.
- Fiber Optic Cable.
- Cable Installation Guides.
- Wireless LANs.
- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Cable.
Ethernet Connection
Ethernet is a
contention media access method that is used to allow hosts on a network to
share the same bandwith of a link. Ethernet is very popular due to easy
implementation, Troubleshooting and new technologies. It uses the data link
layer and physical link layer specifications. Ethernet networking uses what is
called Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect (CSMA/CD) which
helps devices share the bandwidth evenly without having two devices transmit at
the same time on the network medium.
LAN And WAN
LAN: A local Area network that interconnects computer within a limited area such as residence, society, school and university.
WAN: A Wide Area Network that interconnects computer over a large geographical distance.
How to classify whether a network is LAN or WAN ?
Most people are confuse that how can we say that a network is WAN or LAN even though they knew the definition. The answer is very simple. Suppose there are two computers which are connected within a network that means the network is LAN but when there is a third party tool such as an ISP Router which involves between the two computer then that network becomes WAN.Router Interface
There are two types of interface in a router
- LAN Interface
- WAN Interface
If we want to send our data outside the LAN we use the router device because the router is the only device which contains both LAN and WAN interface. The LAN will be connected with the switch to the Computer and the connection provided by the ISP(Internet Service Provider) will be connected to the WAN. Both Interface cable will be connected with the RJ-45 connector.
Note: for Serial Interface, the Rj-45 connector will first
be connected with DB-9 converter.
